David Shula Mpundu’s career exposure has predominately been in the Zambian energy sector commencing with electricity utility operations & maintenance and then energy sector regulation. He worked at the Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) plc, a privately owned and publicly listed electricity generation, transmission and distribution Company. Later on, he worked for the Energy Regulation Board (ERB), the electricity sector regulator in Zambia. He has also worked at the National Technology Business Centre (NTBC), a national institution mandated with technology transfer and technology commercialization. From 2017, David has been serving as the Power Africa Energy Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Zambia Mission.
David holds a Bachelor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Zambia and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cape Town in South Africa. Additionally, David has undergone specialized training in energy such as in Strategic Planning & Management of Energy Organizations at Galilee College in Israel and in Utility Regulation & Strategy at the University of Florida in USA, among other specialized trainings.
David is a Registered Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (EngRB) of Zambia, a Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ), a Member of the Institution of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE) of USA, a Member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET) of the UK and an Associate Member of the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM).
